Mount Mary’s 2025 Voices of Leadership event will address the growing loneliness crisis and its impact on public health. The event takes place on Thursday, Nov. 6 in Bergstrom Hall (located on the Mount Mary University campus).
According to the Surgeon General, levels of isolation in our country have achieved epidemic proportions and are linked to everything from anxiety to premature death. How do we protect people from loneliness and increase social connectivity? Join Dr. Krishna DasGupta, M.D. and Dr. Xochitl Yadira Gonzalez, Ph.D., as they explore powerful psychological and spiritual strategies for building stronger connections.
- The event will also showcase student projects from the Mount Mary University Counseling, Social Work, Dietetics, Studio Art, Fashion and Interior Architecture and Design programs.
- Dietetics: Students developed “Eat with Me,” an experience promoting sharing food as a powerful way to build relationships and foster community.
- Interior Architecture and Design: Students designed customizable furniture to encourage face-to-face communication.
- Painting: Students created artistic work exploring what connection feels like.
- Fashion Design: Students conceptualized designs to represent emotional in tangible form— the final garments will appear in the 2026 Student Fashion Show.
- Social Work/Counseling: Mount Mary's Master of Social Work program partnered with the Counseling and Wellness Center and their social work case managers to provide support tailored to students’ needs.
The event will take place this Thursday, Nov. 6 from 7:30 a.m.–10 a.m. in the Alumnae Dining Room/ Bergstrom Hall (located on the Mount Mary campus). Learn more about the Voices of Leadership event series at
