On Thursday, Mar. 12, the Mount Mary Institute for the Advancement of Women and Children (IAWC) hosted “Carrying the Mission Forward,” an event celebrating its official launch. Founded under the direction of President Isabelle Cherney, the IAWC offers resources such as educational programming featuring global thought leaders, professional development opportunities, community healthcare efforts and expanded access to STEM and technology training programs for women.
The evening featured stations set up throughout Bergstrom and Caroline Hall showcasing the achievements of its four Centers. Visitors had an opportunity to tour the Health Science Center facilities, and to learn about ongoing projects, such as a cross-disciplinary class combining business and sustainable food production, and gamification combined with AI-driven learning.
Dinner was followed by a paddle raise, which was introduced by MMU trustee Sue Bellehumeur and emceed by TMJ4 host Stephanie Brown. The event raised over $200 K to support the Center’s ongoing and future initiatives.
