Mount Mary University has been selected to receive $1 million in support of its proposal, “The Next Generation of Care: Empowering Nurses Through Innovation and Integration.” This recommendation will be presented for final approval at the State Building Commission meeting on Wednesday, May 13, 2026.
The project was selected by the Wisconsin Non-State Grant Program, an initiative that supports construction projects offering public benefit.
Mount Mary plans to expand its Health Science Skills Laboratory, which uses state-of-the-art technology to prepare the next generation of health care professionals for practice. The development addresses regional and statewide health care workforce needs while advancing Mount Mary’s mission of educating students for leadership, service and social justice.
“This award affirms the university’s commitment to preparing the next generation of compassionate, highly skilled nurses” said Mount Mary University President Dr. Isabelle Cherney. She added that the project aligns closely with the grant program’s goal of creating a lasting impact on Wisconsin’s social and economic future.
Through “The Next Generation of Care,” Mount Mary University will continue its commitment to creating equitable, holistic healthcare access in Milwaukee and throughout the region. To learn more about the Mount Mary Nursing program, please visit mtmary.edu/nursing.
